The Dark
We are preconditioned to believe that it is predominantly the absence of light within a dark place, which is the cause of all our distress and sadness. But it is often when we are in a dark place that we can actually see, hear and feel exactly what we truly need to know much more clearly. The cause of the majority of pain and suffering in our lives, is actually the absence of knowledge.
Without knowing we may suffer from ‘Sophophobia’ which is the fear of knowledge. This is because our fears can trick us into believing that the more we discover about ourselves or our lives, we may unintentionally open ourselves up to experience even more anguish and unhappiness.
The word ‘dark’ has always and will unfortunately forever be synonymous with the word ‘bad’. The word ‘dark’ will forever be depicted by this world as a very negative and unhealthy environment of horror. However, like everything in life there are always two sides to every story.
Our own internal darkness can teach us how to expand our inner vision. By spending regular time within this inner space we can witness the increase in our skills of hindsight, insight and foresight. We are able to gain more hindsight as we look back at what we may or may not have learnt from our recent past. We can obtain a much deeper insight as we look closer at our current feelings and emotions in the present moment. And we are also able to receive a great deal of foresight as we look forwards to the near future, with a clearer understanding of any adjustments we may need to make both mentally and emotionally.
All of our visions of the past, present and future can only be uncovered in a place away from our external life in a three dimensional existence. The third dimension is the place where we dwell outside of ourselves, and where we constantly experience the three ‘D’s of ‘disruption’ ‘distraction’ and ‘disturbance’. This is also the place where our connection to our internal environment of silence and stillness is regularly blocked.
When we decide to retreat from the world in search of the many answers we are seeking, we are lovingly afforded the time and space to give our overworked and exhausted mind a chance to uncoil. We are gifted with the opportunity to unravel all of our painful thoughts, and study our destructive behaviour patterns, so that we can gently begin to heal and rebuild our broken heart and splintered spirit.
Our darkness is our inner space where we are encouraged to sift through all of our externally influenced clutter privately. It is within this dark place that we are able to take our time and examine our thoughts, feelings, and emotions honestly, in preparation for either their correction or separation from our heart, mind, spirit and ultimately our soul.
The darkness is the ultimate portal through which internal light, guidance and mental advancement are successfully produced. With the correct balance of light, guidance and advancement we can choose to recognise our inner darkness as the place where our natural and innate gifts of health, wealth and abundance can be found.
