Know Thyself

Can you imagine going through your whole life, without ever discovering who you truly are? The thought of arriving at your final destination at the end of your physical life without understanding the meaning of your journey, is a thought that should fill most of us with terror. While this dreadful scenario is sadly the reality for many people, gratefully this does not need to be the outcome for us all.

How we eventually manage to successfully come to the realisation of self discovery will differ for us all, as the ‘how’ is irrelevant. What is fundamentally important is the actual discovery itself. Our timeframe, our geographical location, and even our social and physical condition at the point of our introduction to ourselves, plays absolutely no part whatsoever in our ability to uncover our authentic identity.

As human beings we have many fears in life. When we start to learn who we are, where we are, and why we are, our fear of things unseen will correctly transfer. Our focus will move from fear of external influences, to our understanding of our own powerful internal influences. Our fear of anything outside of our reach and outside of our control - which is everything outside of our physical body - will naturally diminish when we come to the realisation of our internal truth. Any fear we have accepted into our heart and mind must be dismantled piece by piece and transferred into faith, as it is our faith in our own abilities to overcome whatever negative aspects of ourselves we are holding onto, which will pull us through the fear and out the other side with greater knowledge and courage.

What anyone else thinks, says or tries to impose upon our knowledge of who we know we are, is none of our concern. Anyone who chooses to ignore who they are supposed to be, chooses not to search for their own higher knowledge of self, and instead chooses to judge or critique others, has no place in our heart or head. We must not allow anyones judgement of us to sit in our mind rent free. If they are not positively contributing to our mental, emotional or spiritual growth then we should not be sharing our precious time, energy or resources with these people. We must never let anyone else’s opinion of us become our truth.

Our discovery of our authentic self does not mean every day of our life will be blissful and full of high moments. However, our highs will be much higher than ever before, and even more amazingly, our lows will not be as low as before, instead they will actually become ‘high lows’. A high low is the knowledge of knowing that whatever negativity you are experiencing no longer has the power to impact or control you, emotionally, mentally or physically. We will have an inner understanding that any low point in our life is temporary, as we are now safe in the knowledge that we have everything we need within us to turn that low on its head, and enable it to become a beautiful high.

So how do we discover who we are, where we are, and why we are? We must first answer the three most important questions we will ever ask ourselves. In relation to our past, our family history, and the path of our ancestors, we need to find out exactly where we have you come. Only then will you be able to answer the question of Who am I? Why am I here? and Where am I going? Like a bow and arrow we have to pull back the bow to shoot the arrow forwards, this is how we will be able to successfully move forwards towards our future life. We must look at our origins, our beginnings and our awareness of our destined pathway and current transition through life, from our lower mindset of confusion and lack of knowledge, to our higher mindset of clarity and actualisation of self.

It is true that we are all connected spiritually, and that we all share a higher connection to the universe and each other in many ways, both seen and unseen, but there is something divinely unique within every one of us that has been planted in our dna. Our task as human beings is to discover what that thing is. What is it that we have within us that sets us apart from every other person on this planet? What special seed has been planted within us which will bring growth and joy to both ourselves and the world as a whole? When we finally discover what that one thing is, what gift we have been blessed with that makes our soul sing… we will have begun our journey to know exactly who we truly are.
